Talk on How Battersea’s Mosaic Heritage Influences Modern Artwork

  • St Mary's Church Battersea Church Road London, England, SW11 United Kingdom (map)

Award-winning ceramic artist and architect Maria Gasparian was commissioned by Wandsworth council to create a public artwork for the new housing development on the Surrey Lane Estate.  The artwork has been inspired by the legacy of Jesse and Henry Rust who were Victorian mosaic manufactures producing colourful vitreous mosaics in Battersea.  Maria will share her research into Battersea’s rich mosaic heritage – and how it links to the Randall Tesserae project in Surrey Lane. The talk starts at 7pm
