Demolition of listed structure at 12-14 Lombard Road, 2014/6957
The Battersea Society objects to this application on the grounds that no demolition plan has been presented.
The document noted as Demolition Plan appears to be a boundary drawing. The Heritage Assessment is the document presented as part of the application material for 2014/6909. That document states, in section 4.1, that a full assessment of the demolition proposals would be undertaken as part of the separate listed building consent application but this is neither attached nor referred to.
The application makes clear that plans for demolition are merely in outline at this time and that no work has been undertaken to estimate the work to be done with phrases such as “The choice of the repair will largely be dictated by the extent of the degradation … and the conservation philosophy chosen”, “like-for-like replacement … may be necessary” and “Other less invasive remedial strategies would of course be considered”.
The applicant should have considered, with an appropriate expert, the philosophy to be chosen and to have provided more detail.
In the absence of any detail beyond that of the boundary we consider this application provides insufficient detail to be determined and should be refused.
