Tesco Delivery Plan, 2016/0728
The Battersea Society object strongly to the unneighbourly plans proposed for deliveries. These proposals will not only affect neighbours within this residential area, they will disrupt the wider travelling public through adding to the congestion already experienced along a heavily trafficked through route.
We acknowledge that it is too late to stop the proposal despite this being an unnecessary development and one likely to be to the detriment of existing shopping parades elsewhere along Battersea Bridge and Battersea Park Roads. However plans should be considerate of the residential nature of the location.
Deliveries via heavy goods vehicles 7 days a week from 7.00 a.m to 9 p.m are unacceptable.Further disturbance will be caused by deliveries of newspapers and magazines ‘during the early hours of the morning’. Again presumably 7 days a week.
These plans are put forward despite consultation with local residents rather than resulting from such discussions. Local residents understood that there was an undertaking from Tesco representatives that deliveries were to be made via Surrey Lane. This is where barrels were delivered to the public house and where, residents were told, Tesco plan their storage area. This would be less disruptive to immediate neighbours and – equally importantly – to traffic flow north along Battersea Bridge Road.
We urge the Council to work with Tesco to modify these unneighbourly and disruptive proposals.
