Garage N of 9-15 Elcho Street, 2016/0654
The Battersea Society objects to this proposal for a 10-storey building. It would be an over-development of this small site, and one that would not contribute positively to the newly emerging streetscape. It appears to be in conflict with the Site Specific Allocation Document for this area and it is surprising that planning officers did not draw this to the attention of the developers at the pre-application stage.
We note that the adjoining building at 9-15 Elcho Street is to be 6 storeys high and, while the development of the Vivienne Westwood site rises to 8 storeys, this height is not uniform. We understand this to be, in part, due to the need to protect the outlook of neighbours to the north.
We trust that this application will be refused at its current height and that the site can be developed in a way which is both more respectful of its neighbours and more appropriate for the site.
