The Battersea Society commends the proposals for the restoration of the historic plaques but objects to the suggestion that these be placed on the bin stores alongside the footway.
This placing, below the normal line of site, would diminish their visibility and, more importantly, render them susceptible to damage.
We hope that the architects and the developer will think again – perhaps considering siting them above the porches or on the eastern flank wall.
While writing, could we put in a plea to the developer to use the opportunity of construction on the Warriner Road side to tidy up the Battersea Park Road frontage. While we are pleased there are no plans to re-develop this area we would still like to see remedial work done on the historic frontage.
