2015/3667: Go Ape Travel Plan
The Battersea Society welcomes the travel plan prepared by Go Ape however we consider that as submitted it is deficient in detail regarding arrivals by car/coach and parking provision for these vehicles. Without further supporting material we consider conditions 4 and 5 of the original approval are not met and further clarification should be sought.
While we generally support their objective of promoting access by public transport, cycle or on foot, we question how realistic their encouragement of car sharing to reduce car usage is in terms of reducing numbers seeking to use the Park's car parks. On the latter, they merely state that there is ample parking. (Last paragraph of section 1).
Based on figures from their other sites they suggest that as many as 50% of users could arrive by car or coach (first paragraph section 4). However they do not anywhere quantify what this might mean in terms of numbers requiring parking spaces for either private cars or coaches.
Information is needed on projected numbers arriving by car and coach by length of stay and split weekdays /weekend. Without this level of quantification we consider the travel plan is deficient. It is not possible to assess how realistic the proposals are in terms of their impact on the Park's parking facilities nor on local on-street parking and the plan should not be approved.
