Sign at Wandsworth Roundabout, 2014/5812
The Battersea Society object to the erection of this obtrusive sign near a very busy roundabout. We consider this will be a potentially hazardous intrusion on the sight line for drivers. No information is given regarding any assessment of this.
We further object to the lack of information about the impact of this development. There is no clear visual to show how the sign will sit within the streetscape. There is no report into the possible effect on adjoining residents from this sign which appears likely to cause light pollution. Wandsworth Council need to go further than an outside applicant in making clear what is proposed and the impact such a proposal will have.
This is particularly worrying because this application joins that for a similar sign – presumably in close proximity – reference 2014/5629.
We believe this development, while undoubtedly providing cash for the council and its contractor, would be at the expense of residents and those driving through the area. The council should think again and withdraw this application.
