Construction Logistics Plan New Covent Garden: 2015/4221
The Battersea Society, having looked at the Construction Logistics Plan and the comments of Thames Water, wish to reiterate the latter's concerns re coordination of traffic movement and access into and out of the CGMA site.
We commend the coordination work that has been undertaken to date along the Nine Elms corridor to limit the impact both there and further west along Battersea Park Road /Queens Circus. Even with these measures heavy traffic does build up around the roundabout and at peak times in the direction of York Road. It is worrying therefore if Thames Water, from their perspective of operations relating to Tideway Tunnel, are concerned that the proposals in this plan may be insufficient to avoid major build ups of traffic around the Nine Elms /Cringle street /Market access road junctions. This would certainly have a knock on effect south and west towards other parts of Battersea and Wandsworth.
In the light of Thames Water’s comment we would urge the Council to delay approval of the Logistics Plan and to ask the CGMA to look at the possibility of greater use of other entry points to their site and any further ameliorative actions they can include in the plan.
